Ingredient Reader
Snap a cosmetics ingredient list. Read on-device and matched. No photos sent.
Get it on Google PlayWhat it does
- Take a photo of the ingredient list (or choose one) and the ingredient names are read
- The text is matched against an ingredient name dictionary and listed in the order printed on the package
- For round containers, take up to 4 photos while rotating, and they are read together as one product
- Uncertain readings are marked Check and shown next to the matching part of the photo. Confirm with ✓, fix them, or add ingredients that were missed
- Reads Japanese ingredient lists and ingredient lists in Latin letters (INCI names, such as on imported products)
Photos are never sent
- Text is read on your device (Google ML Kit). Photos and the full text read are never sent anywhere
- No account needed. The app does not collect your name, contact details, location or advertising ID
- No camera or photo permissions: photos are taken with your camera app and chosen with the Android photo picker
The app's screens are available in English, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Spanish and Portuguese.
Get it on Google PlayHelping the dictionary is optional. Only if you agree, you can send the corrected ingredient names to the developer to improve the dictionary. You can change this at any time in Settings.
This app is a tool for reading ingredient labels. It is not a medical device and does not evaluate the safety or danger of ingredients or products. Some ingredients may not be listed (carry-over ingredients, the components of a fragrance, etc.), and reading errors can happen. Always check the label on the package with your own eyes, and consult a doctor or pharmacist when needed.
